Founder moves on from Stryker Security

JonasProject
We like to share very honest experiences about entrepreneurship at The Jonas Project. Not every business launches, and not every business succeeds. But with every experience our Veterans have, they learn incredible lessons that will help them in future careers and possibly with future business ideas. We like to recognize these moments as success in disguise. When Josh Waguespack of Stryker Security decided to make the big decision to close down his start up and take a job with a non-profit, it was not an easy one, but he learned so much from his experience that we know he’ll be...

Frustration and Achievement

JonasProject
By Monica Vasquez of EP Construction I’m a little frustrated today so I thought I would share. Today I find myself “stuck.” I have a lot of loose ends to still tie up and my mind is just racing in circles right now.  Things have been going well for E9 to date. I applied for my DBA on April 4th on a whim because a contracting officer at the base offered me some work when I told him what I was doing with the company. Since then, we’ve bid on five jobs, and won three, one is still being written up...

April Highlights

JonasProject
April found us very busy with two friend-raisers held in Cedar Park, TX. Our Story Teller and a dear friend of hers who owns a Primrose School got together to make it happen. They sold several Live Harder shirts, accompanied by some very generous donations. Thank you to Kim (our Story Teller), Kasey (Primrose owner), Josh Waguespack, one of TJPs Veterans who came to share his story, and all who attended. John (In-Charge of Other Stuff) was invited to sit on the Advisory Board for Saddleback Community College’s Veteran program. Currently we are serving 17 Veteran Owned Businesses, with several...

Mentor of the Month: April

JonasProject
We love to recognize our Mentors at The Jonas Project. They really are our greatest resource. Our mentors work with our Veterans to help guide them, try to avoid mistakes, and keep them on track. This month, we want to recognize Brian Smalley for his work with Stryker Security. Brian is a Veteran and entrepreneur himself, and loves his role as a Mentor. “It is great to work with these guys. You guys are the heroes for seeing this need and getting it established.” “I love being able to participate,” says Brian. “I feel that supporting my fellow Veterans is an...

March Highlights

JonasProject
From Teri Kelsall, the woman In Charge at The Jonas Project Another month has flown by, and it’s a good thing that I’m not aging as quickly as the months are passing. March found us very busy, but the highlight of the month was when we held a special meeting with our Southern California Mentors. Of course all our Mentors were invited, but since we cannot cover anyone’s travel expenses, and since our Mentors are spread out throughout the continental U.S., it makes sense that only those who lived close by could make it. The “Meeting of The Mentor Minds”...
