Veteran Entrepreneurs

Class Q4-17

The Jonas Project works exclusively with
Veteran entrepreneurs to launch a new business. We
provide support in many ways, but the most impact
comes from our Mentors and Subject
Matter Experts. We work with you on every aspect of your
business to create what we call a Concept of
Operations
that includes a SWOT analysis, market
research, business model, financial projections,
operations plan, and marketing plan.

Each Veteran is assigned a mentor who works
with you for up to two years. The Jonas Project
Mentors are business owners who have already
launched successful businesses and can help you
avoid mistakes, and increase your chances for success.

How it Works

The Jonas Project accepts applications
year-round, but quarterly cohorts start
the first month of every business quarter.
We will be devoting a tremendous
amount of time to your development, so
be prepared to work…and work hard!
  1. Apply online

Fill out the Application completely. If you
have a business plan, be sure to attach it
to your application. If you don’t have a
business plan, attach this Business Kernel
with your application. Think carefully
through the business kernel, as it will help
us determine if your idea has merit.

  1. Contact

A Jonas Project staff member will call you
within three business days of submitting
your application to discuss your business
idea and your plans.

  1. Cohorts

The Jonas Project chooses five to ten
candidates every quarter to join the
cohort. The cohort meets as a group
weekly (online) to work on small portions
of the business plan. Our Senior Capacity
Builder leads the meetings. You will cover
topics like customer definition, market
segmentation, costs and expenses,
and
a thorough SWOT analysis.

  1. Mentoring

Veterans will be assigned a Jonas Project
Mentor at the end of the quarter. Mentors
work with you one-on-one for up to 24
months to accomplish one of two things:

  • Develop an MVP (minimum viable
product) you can use to validate your
business idea and establish cash flow.
  • Develop a lender-ready business plan
you can use to get financing.

Your mentor works with you even after
your business launches to ensure you
learn to be an independent business
owner.

  1. Growth

At the end of two years we consider you
an independent business owner! But that
doesn’t mean you’re alone. We have
specialized experts who take over at that
point to help you plan for future growth.
While you may be out of start-up phase,
you’re never without support.
