Jodi received her Bachelor’s in Marketing from University of Texas, San Antonio, a Master’s in Advertising from University of Texas in Austin, and PhD from UT in Advertising/Marketing with emphases in Relationship Management and Organizational Behavior.
Jodi has been in marketing for over 15 years in consulting, academia and retail environments. “I believe in blending theory with practice and so I have tried to maintain a balance in both industry and academia. I have definitely had a less than typical career path but I wouldn’t change a thing as I truly believe every experience has brought value and given me new perspective,” says Jodi.
Since graduating from the University of Texas, she has held positions as a marketing manager, marketing director, adjunct professor, and most recently, a marketing/branding consultant.
“My father and brother both served in the military (Air Force and Marines respectively) and I’ve always had such great admiration for our men and women who serve our country. In addition, I was personally moved by the story behind the creation of The Jonas Project. It amazed me how a family faced with such a devastating event has been able to move forward and create good out of tragedy. Although I have never personally served our country in the capacity that our veterans have, participating in The Jonas Project gives me the opportunity to serve our veterans in the best way I can,” says Jodi.
As a mentor, Jodi hopes to contribute a practical view and sounding board for all things related to marketing and promotion. “I think it is such a confusing area for so many people, even the professionals! Being able to talk through thoughts and offer guidance is sometimes all a person really needs to unleash the next big idea. I would like to share the various experiences I have had during my professional career and inspire all of the veterans to channel their passion and creativity into successful marketing plans!”
