After many life adventures, Chad Lott decided to attend college as a mature adult, starting at City College of San Francisco and later finishing his bachelor’s degree in Rhetoric from UC Berkeley.
“In the Rhetoric department I studied Intellectual Property Law, digital media and quite a bit of post-modern philosophy. The plan was to go to law school, but I was swept up in freelance writing and marketing before I even got my LSAT scores back,” says Chad.
For twelve years Chad has been involved in sales and marketing within the natural foods world. “I started off in natural foods at a meat company, working at farmers markets in the Bay Area,” says Chad. “Once social media became essential for small businesses, I began running the company’s various pages and picked up freelance clients for web copy.”
The last six years Chad has spent at Whole Foods Market as the Northern California region’s Senior Copywriter. He works on everything from store signage to videos to radio to billboards. And as if that wasn’t enough, Chad does freelance work on the side for packaging, newsletters and social content.
“I’ve had a really enjoyable, fairly smooth life. I have quite a few veteran friends and I’ve wanted to volunteer in some capacity with a veteran’s group. I reached out to a friend of mine in the SEALS and asked him what a good group to work with would be. He told me about The Jonas Project and it seemed like a great fit!”
Chad joins The Jonas Project SME (Subject Matter Expert) team and helps Veterans punch up their copy, edit long form messaging, and advise on package design. He’ll also be helping out with brainstorming, ideation and creative direction.
Chad lives in Oakland, California.
