Jeff Nesbitt served 8.5 years in the U.S Coast Guard in Search and Rescue and Law Enforcement, serving 4 tours during operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. He would later receive his associate private investigator license.
After leaving the service he moved back to his home state of Colorado. “I’ve always had a passion for helping people and protecting them, and wanted to pursue a career in Law Enforcement,” says Jeff. He graduated from the Colorado State Police academy in 2007 and moved to Bloomington, Indiana, in 2009. He worked at several part-time security jobs until he was able to get a full time position as a Deputy Bailiff at the local justice center. He was later promoted to Criminal Investigator for the Monroe County Prosecutor.
When Jeff decided to leave law enforcement, he continued working for the same security company he worked with before becoming Deputy Bailiff. “After discussing my goals to own and run my own businesses with Jim Graham, the owner of Graham Security & Patrol, he asked me if I would be interested in being business partners. He wanted someone who was technologically savvy, had fresh ideas and the drive to bring new business,” says Jeff.
Jeff starting looking around for help on how to find the financing he needed to buy into the business. Jeff realized that buying Jim’s business meant he didn’t have to reinvent the wheel. The business already had existing contracts.
Jeff found The Jonas Project who advised him to have the business appraised, which has ultimately helped in setting a fair price and preparing to go for business loans. In the meantime, Jeff is working to bring in new contracts and gearing up for some annual events that require security.
He eventually wants to expand the business outside of Bloomington.
